Nicole Parker will be flying into Oz beginning January 16, taking over at the Gershwin Theater as Wicked’s newest Elphaba. The role of the famed Green Girl is currently played by Marcie Dodd. Parker will also be joined on January 20 by a returning Fiyero, former leading man Aaron Tveit, who is currently appearing in the Washington DC production of Next to Normal.
Best known for her six seasons on MADtv, Parker made her Broadway debut in Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me. Additional New York credits include Laurencia in Fuente Ovejuna. Regional credits include Pamina in The Magic Flute Falcon Theater and Juliet in the Second City's Romeo and Juliet Musical.
Wicked currently features Alli Mauzey as Glinda, Jayne Houdyshell as Madame Morrible, P.J. Benjamin as The Wizard, Kevin Kern as Fiyero, Alex Brightman as Boq, Brynn O'Malley as Nessarose, and Timothy Britten Parker as Dr. Dillamond.
Declared "A Cultural Phenomenon" by Variety, Wicked currently has productions in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Stuttgart, Melbourne and on a North American tour. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, the show features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, and a book by Winnie Holzman.
